Are you interested in joining Girl Scouts for the 2010-2011 Girl Scout Year? All girls are invited to register now, and choose their own pathway (or several) to Girl Scouting! New leaders are needed now to be trained over the summer, so we can start new troops on time in the fall. Contact the council by using the link on this website or visit the council website at www.girlscoutsjs.org The Freehold Service Unit Team would like to thank our dedicated leaders and volunteers for another great year of Girl Scouting! We look forward to our remaining events in May and June as the Freehold Service Unit. We are excited to announce that beginning June 30, 2010, Freehold will be combined with other local towns in one of the five new regions that will make up the Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore: East Region (those towns formerly served by these service units): Ocean, Neptune-Asbury, Wall, Shore, Point Pleasant, Brick Central Region (those towns formerly served by these service units): Holmdel, Colts Neck, Marlboro, Matawan-Aberdeen, Freehold, Manalapan-Englishtown North Region (those towns formerly served by these service units): Bayshore, Hazlet, Middletown Trails, Harmony-Beacon, Eatontown-Ft Monmouth, Seaside, Hartshorne, Rumson, Tinton Falls, Little Silver, Red Bank West Region (those towns formerly served by these service units): Howell-Farmingdale, Sweet Bay, Jackson-Dogwood, Jackson-Sassafrass, Lakewood, Millstone, Plumstead South Region (those towns formerly served by these service units): Toms River, Evergreeen, Holly, Sugarberry, Red Cedar, Juniper, Laurel, Bayberry, White Pine Our new Central Region will be comprised of 259 troops, 1386 volunteers, and nearly 5,000 girls. Our adult volunteers, troops, and individual girls will have a wonderful opportunity in the new regional system to do what Girl Scouts do best - make new friends, work together, and lead the way to a better future in our communities. This new regional delivery system of services, programs, and volunteers is now being organized. Our new Regional Director, Cathy Dominquez will be contacting volunteers to sit on 5 committees that will decide on how our region will operate to deliver Girl Scouting in the areas of: Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE) Product Sales Volunteer Support Marketing/Communication Fund Development Administration
Community volunteers will also be needed to work with the committees to accomplish their goals. Community volunteer opportunities will be short-term and task oriented. The hope is that community volunteers from all those towns represented in our new region will help to deliver the new regional delivery system. More information will be forwarded to leaders as these committees begin to meet and determine best practices that will work in our region. Over the summer you can expect to begin to receive communications through regional e-newsletters and a new Central Region website. We invite you all to prepare for a wonderful year of Girl Scouting in 2010-2011 under this new council structure. Change can be difficult for some, but we invite you to remember the irl Scout Law: I will do my best to be Honest and Fair, Friendly and Helpful, Considerate and Caring, Courageous and Strong, Responsible for what I say and do, To Respect Myself and Others, To Respect Authority, To Use Resources Wisely, to Make the World a Better Place, And be a Sister to Every Girl Scout. Every effort will be made to keep our wonderful volunteers informed of what is happening, and how the new structure will affect you as a volunteer, your troop, or the individual girl enjoying her own pathway to Girl Scouting.
